Pepperdine Lecturships Continued

Hi guys,

Well, singing and lectures have been amazing again. We took a hike today as well, hiked over 4 miles up onto this mountain that over looked the ocean and LA/long beach and Santa Monica. There were a ton of houses built on the side of the cliffs and it was cool to see. Some had pools that seemed on the edge of the cliff. pretty neat. Still continuing to get sun which is always nice. Its really great to come together with thousands of Christians and worship God. I took a few videos with Amanda's phone but will have to wait to get a card reader before i can publish them. Hope all is well, I still haven't heard of a baby but still wishing the best. Love you all!

Pepperdine Lecturships

Hi family,

Just enjoying CA, you wouldn't believe the view here, its really incredible how they can build the buildings on such inhabitable land. Its gorgous at how the mountians nearly butt up to the ocean we got to go to the beach and lay in the sand. We attended 3 lectures so far skipped 2 for the beach and about to go to the singing and the main night lecture and then have dinner and then i think there is another lecture at night time. The theme is about the church in colossians I am going to try and post a video on here of our walk down to the baseball game that we sat though a few innings before singing. please disregard mine and ally's craziness. we were trying to annoy Amanda and maybe caused her to leave before she got to watch the game =) well, i found the video we took and we were missing about the last 7 minutes, i don't know why it didn't save, sorry for it being jerky we were walking down a big hill to the game, i might try and film some more while were here.

=)

Had trouble with my account. It is touch when you get old. Just want all to know the tomatoes are growing. Can't wait til we can get them outside. Gill plowed the garden and transplanted the okra into pots today. Spring can't be far behind. Love to all and prayers all around. MaMapat

Updates from Mom & Dad

I just realized I have not posted in FOREVER! Bad mom!
Jay & Amanda, I love the bug. It is adorable. It fits the two of you perfectly!
Body by Mark...well I am feeling stronger and more energetic than I have in a long time. Once I got past session 4 I have loved it and even talked Mark into taking on dad and I for the same price...2 for 1 is not too bad. Then I had to convince dad it was a good idea. He was a much tougher sell. I ended up promising to give up eating out to pay for working out. Quite a sacrifice for me...I love to eat out! After dad's first work out, he too thought he would die. I have to tell you that made me feel much better..I wasn't the only weinie dog in the family :) He did complain much more than I did though! When he went back to see Mark the next time, he convinced Mark to go easy on him...it really was quite funny...Mark and I gave him a really hard time. Dad is always trying to tell him how to improve his business and workouts...Mark is very patient.
Jennifer brought us a wonderful protein shake mix...I just love it. We have one after every workout. We are also trying to get cardio in every other day. We do pretty well.
Scott has been staying with us for the past two weeks, but is going back to his mistress tonight (Travis Greer) This is according to Natasha who says they spend more time together than she and Travis during tax season.
I am off call for a few days...still working each day though...so not really off. Went out of town for Saturday night. We had fun, went to church and met a precious woman, Jean. I want to be just like her when I grow up! She is 76 years old, energetic, spunky, quick witted, beautiful and very kind. She took us to the highest point in GA...against our will. We told her we would go the next time we were in the area...she said she was 76 and she might not be around then, so we were going today...Yes, Miss Jean we are right behind you...could say no to that!
Love you all!

Body by Mark

For Christmas dad bought me 10 sessions with a personal trainer at my request. ( that part is important) I have no dreams of being a supermodel, but healthy is my goal. I am out of shape and seem to have a hard time getting motivated to move. I have the slug syndrome. So Friday was my first session. I arrived at Mark's house at 8am...he lives in the neighborhood, how convenient...his living room is set up like a gym with a huge of workout station. We spend 30 seconds on my goals and he puts me to work...I'm thinking he not really interested in my goals, he has a plan. Two minutes into the workout I am wondering why I asked for this. Maybe being a slug is not such a bad way to spend your life. He keeps asking throughout the workout if I was ok? I lied and said yes. He's a nice guy...pushes a bit and keeps me on track. He cranked up the music and we worked...let me rephrase...I worked my buns off. I get in the car with my muscles totally fatigued. Pushing in the clutch was difficult. I go home walk up the stairs...ha that was interesting.
Saturday I thought I had never experienced such pain from a workout. I was sore all over. I had taken arnica, rubbed down with arnica, took a bath in baking soda and salt and tried to stay active. When I sat down and tried to get up I paid for it. I planned my trips up stairs. I decided dad and Mark must have gotten their wires crossed and he signed me up for the torture session instead of the get healthy session. Interesting thing in all this, my hip is not hurting for the first time in weeks. He stretched me out pretty good. I didn't know my knees could still touch my ears.
My next session is Tuesday. I figure he schedules it that way so that you have forgotten the pain and you are able to walk into his torture chamber by then. Funny thing is we didn't do anything that I hadn't done before. All the forms of torture were familiar to me.
Better go for now...I think I am hearing frozen rain outside...need to go check.
Love,
Mom Linda

It was great to see Jay Alan at church last night. I think marriage is agreeing with him! We are having a cold day here, but promises of sunshine later. I am going to my first tia chi class of this year today. Gill is working. Life is good. That was a beautiful picture of Jennifer. Way to go girl! Love MaMaPat

My Dream

Since opening the birth center, one of our dreams has been for it to be bigger than us. We invited other midwives to deliver there in hopes that more and more women would have wonderful birth experiences. Today one of the local midwives delivered her first baby at the center. I was so pleased and feel it is the beginning of a very nice relationship.
She called me a little after 7 am to let me know she was there with her client and asked if I would be the second midwife. I arrived a little before 8 am. Everything was set up and mom was laboring well in the tub. This was her fifth baby, but the first out of hospital birth experience. She delivered a beautiful, healthy baby a bit after 9 am. The couple was so appreciative of the experience. They liked not being ordered around and told what to do. She said she felt better after this delivery than any other and the baby was so peaceful and calm, unlike their other babies. It was such a good feeling to have been a part of it.
My hope is this will happen more and more often as others hear of the center.
Love,
Linda

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone. We played 80's Trivial Pursuit with Nela and a couple from church. It was fun and the girls won. That makes it even better. Nothing else exciting is happening. I tried to put a picture in but I couldn't do it. Linda will have to show me again.

Talk to you soon.
Leslie

Happy New Year

I hope everyone had a happy and safe new year. We had a very quite one but did see the ball fall in New York. Papa's pain is not nearly as bad as it was. I am decreasing the narcotics and he will only have the patch. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
